What is hypnotherapy?
The best way to describe hypnosis is being deeply relaxed, so that we can communicate with the unconscious part of the mind. This does not mean you will be unconscious; you will be able to hear sounds inside or outside of the room and be aware of the words you are listening to. In this deeply relaxed state, a person may be more open to positive suggestions that can support behaviour change, emotional healing, or mental clarity. You will have thoughts running through your mind and will probably wonder if you are under hypnosis. The answer to that will be yes, as we are in and out of hypnosis daily without even realising it.
Have you ever driven your car and arrived at your destination, but have no idea how you have got there as you have been daydreaming on your way? That is self-hypnosis, your clever unconscious mind has taken you safely to your destination all by itself!
Will I be in control during hypnosis?
Yes, despite common myths, you remain in control throughout the session. You cannot be made to do anything against your will or morals. You are able to reject suggestion or open your eyes if you wish.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes, everyone has the ability to be hypnotised, as it is a natural normal state that we enter in and out of daily. We do this at least twice a day as we awake and when we fall asleep.
Can I get stuck in a trance?
No this is not possible.
